Hey everyone! I know I haven’t posted on the blog in a minute for things have been lookin up for ya girl. I have made a few updates to my creative resume such as being the host of a local talk show (watch the first episode here), and collaborating with dope people. One of the collaborations I am excited about is Art For Her Sole which local collective aimed to showcase women immersed in art, hip-hop and sneaker culture. I wanted to make my #ShesGotSoleXO campaign bigger in terms of a pop-up and soon transcend into an event for people to pull up to. I teamed up with local artist Natalie Meyer and artistic curator, Betty Black to form this idea. Being a woman who loves sneakers and 90’s hip-hop culture, I want to combine my two loves and add Natalie’s art into the mix. She paints images showcasing women of color as well as hip-hop icons like Jay-Z and Foxy Brown. I brought my favourite kicks, some rap tees and some vinyl records from my vault while Natalie pulled up with her fly paintings. We announced our pop-up a couple of weekends ago at the Black Arts Matter showcase and the turnout was amazing! We are in the process of planning an event for Art For Her Sole and we cannot wait to give you all the deets! Be sure to follow the official Instagram page and check out a recap from the pop-up. Event coming soon!
