I guess the rumours were true after all! After a photo of a white shirt leaked on the internet showing the Louis Vuitton signature print while the words “Supreme” was seen written across the top left, hypebeasts were passing out left and right. Just today, both fashion powerhouses made their debut on the runway today during its Fall 2017 menswear runway show for Paris Fashion Week. Once again, hypebeasts everywhere were fainting not just because of the collab, but because of how full their pockets will be once they get their hands on each garment for reselling. Supreme got in trouble a couple years back when it stole Louis Vuitton’s monogram logo without asking for their permission (oops!). But it seems that Louis Vuitton forgave the streetwear brand and wanted to amplify the hype by blessing fashion lovers with a collaboration.
On the runway, we saw baseball denim jackets, denim jackets and scarves with both the LV monograms and the Supreme logo. Oh and just when we thought Louis Vuitton was done, there was a red bespoke trunk with the LV monogram engraved all over, plus a red bag with Supreme across it in white text. Creative Director, Kim Jones kept fashion lovers guessing after a photo he posted on Instagram got deleted and let’s just say, we are not disappointed for this collab was worth the anticipation! It seems that a lot of high end fashion brand are teaming up with brands that cater to street and pop culture or associating the brands with important events. Take for example, Denma Gvasalia of Balenciaga derived inspiration from Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign and applied it to t-shirts, blanket scarves and bomber jackets. With modern culture being a part of our lives on TV, Youtube, online, etc, why not apply it to what we wear to make a statement that we are in tune with what’s going on in our world and we choose to show it by wearing it on our backs. Well done Louis Vuitton and Supreme! I have a feeling that this collection will be a hit and that fashion lovers and hypebeasts everywhere will be beyond exhilarated for when the collection drops. By the way, it appears to have a date for Monday, July 17th at select Louis Vuitton stores. Hmmm, maybe drop it at select Supreme stores on a Thursday so the hypebeasts can came outside while sitting in their Supreme folding chairs.
