Ladies and gentlemen, I present you with another segment of the #FashionableFriendFeature where I shine a light on social influencers to get a sense on how they style their lives aside from the clothes they wear. It started off local but thanks to social media, I’ve been introduced to so many different styles and vibes worldwide and thanks to DM, I am able to connect with influencers on a fashionably spiritual level. A year ago, I made payment online at Legacy Luxe Lush for their infamous Aaliyah jersey tee (currently unavailable). Once I got shipping confirmation, I immediately scrolled through their Instagram page just to get some outfit inspiration and a particular photo caught my attention. It was that blonde hair and those OG Bred 1’s that made me hit the follow button on her instagram page tited BlondeCaviar. Her name is Fenna and she is fashion journalist from Hamburg, Germany. I immediately became intrigued by such a name for she uses it as motivation to be the best that she can be and deliver quality content as a blogger and influencer. Her style screams Aaliyah Haughton and after chatting with her in the DM, I came to realize that her vibe also matches the persona of the songstress: down to earth, fly as fuck, and a mind full of positivity. Aside from being a Fashion Journalist, Fenna dedicates her time to her personal fashion blog and also blogs for hip-hop clothing brand Karl Kani. If you a hip hop lover like Fenna, Karl Kani is one of the biggest designers to cater to the hip hop fashion industry for his pieces have been on the backs of Tupac Shakur and Aaliyah herself. I wanted to know more about Fenna and how she styles her life, whether it’s through her Jordan’s, gold grill or simply her philosophy of finding inner peace through every life hurdle. Check out my interview with the blonde bombshell where she discusses how she got into the world of street wear fashion, how street wear is perceived in Germany, plus she talks about her connection to Karl Kani. Be sure to follow her blog as well as her social media platforms, dope chatting with you girl! #StyleYourLifeWithBlondeCaviar
1.) Tell me about yourself (name, age, where you from, etc)
My name is Fenna, I’m 23 years old and I’m from Hamburg, Germany
2.) How did you come up with the name BlondeCaviar?
Caviar is considered as “black gold“, and the best of it’s kind – therefore I chose the name to push myself to become the best version of me, as a human being but also as an influencer.
3.) How did you get into the street wear scene?
I started to rock street wear from a young age. I used to go to that one Hip Hop/street wear store in that small city next to my town and get all the new stuff they just had coming in.
4.) What street wear brands are you currently rockin with?
One of my all time favorites, has always been Karl Kani. The whole history behind the brand is just beyond, but what I love the most about Kani is that they do their own things to this day. They still rocking the 90’s wave while everyone else tries to keep it up with today’s trends. Releasing the OG pieces that Tupac, BIG, Aaliyah used to wear but with a new touch. We are connecting those pieces with childhood favorites and the new generation has also their connection to the new artists of today. And I think to have that as a brand is really unique. Also brands like Puma are bringing out dope pieces lately as well.
5.) We spoke on Instagram via DM and talked about the street wear scene out in Germany, what’s the vibe like out there in terms of fashion, creative ideas and overall hype?
The vibe is definitely here, we got people with amazing fashion sense and a lot of creative heads, what we do need I think is that streetwear is getting a little more acknowledged, especially on girls. But I think we are getting there and until then we just have to stick together and empower each other every day ❤
6.) Who are your style muses when it comes to street wear fashion?
My style muses are Aaliyah and Rihanna. Aaliyah is still today a big influence in today’s fashion industry and has always had the perfect fashion sense rocking masculine pieces but making them look cute and girlie, same like Rihanna – and there you have the mix already, old school matched with new school. For me, these girls rule the industry.
7.) If you could wear any sneaker for the rest of your life, which pair would it be and why?
Jordan 1 Bred, overall a timeless match!
8.) Do you find it hard for women to break into the street wear scene? Considering it is so male dominated, especially when it comes to sneaker culture?
I do! I can see it everyday on platforms and magazines that are supposed to be for girls only! Guys are the people that are commenting on those side the most, which I think is totally wrong given the purpose of those sides. We are not given the credit for our style sense but for how our body looks in those specific pieces. The sneaker culture really is male dominated, but there are a lot of dope girls I know who definitely kick some ass, and bring us a little closer for more girl power in that culture.
9.) Would you say that 90’s hip-hop contributed to your fashion sense? How so?
I think I just developed my style from back then, the Hip Hop culture has always been a huge influence, music wise but especially in the style. At the end of the day, I pursue my passion, away from the trends. For me it’s timeless with a lot of history.
10.) What is your current philosophy?
Everything happens for a reason, try to be positive and find peace through every obstacle of live because what you put out there will reward you in the end.
11.) What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue a creative path?
I’m still trying to figure that out for myself I guess, but what I know so far is – Just do it. Once you know what you wanna do, where you wanna go and who you wanna become – manifest it, and you can do it! You need patience but nothing is impossible.
12.) What are your thoughts on the blogging community as a whole?
There are so many different people out there doing their own thing, it inspires you every day to keep doing and be a part of the whole. But at the other hand it’s more difficult to get noticed and have success with a certain style.
13.) What do you love the most about being a fashion journalist/blogger?
What I love is to be in contact with fashion and the people every day. Explore new brand and the people behind it – introduce them to the community is what I love the most, I wanna share with the people who are into the same things like I am and hopefully inspire them as well.
14.) What are your plans for the future? Where do you want to go with blonde caviar?
I wanna go out there and take more risks – explore more, get inspired, be inspiring to others and put it out there. Share more content on the blog, meet and network with new people and just work towards my dreams.
15.) How do you “style your life?”
Most of the time my kicks are the key pieces to every outfit, I always start with the sneaker and see how I can build the outfit around them. But sometimes I just like to start the day with a new mind set and just get inspired by everything around me and create the style.
