Hey ya’ll! I just received notification that today marked my two years of blogging and to be honest, it doesn’t feel like two years. I want to take this opportunity to thank every single person who liked/commented/shared/took four minutes and twelve seconds out of their day to view this blog. Trust, this girl has come a long way and I honestly owe it to ya’ll for letting me express myself in a silly, yet genuine way. You are the bomb dot com and I encourage you to follow your passion in whichever field that may be! And make sure to slay! ❤ Fashion was originally the start for SYLXO and honestly, it’s still one of my favourite topics to discuss. With my laptop being my best friend, fashion trends and updates are easily accessible with just a push of a few buttons. Starting out, I was a bit timid in terms of my shoots but the more I did, the more it empowered me to know my angles and to be more experimental in terms of outfit choices. With Vashtie Kola and Pharrell as my idols growing up, I retaliated and went back back to my street wear/sneaker roots. With street wear fashion being on the rise thanks to brands such as Fear of God, Off-White and Gosha Rubchinskiy, it’s also realistic in the sense that you see it in everyday streets and magazines. You also got big athletic names such as Nike and Adidas doing fire collabs with Supreme and Palace. Prior to going street, I had a really tough time identifying my style and what part of me I wanted to channel. Dresses and heels were cute, but it didn’t match up to the persona, for it made me feel like somebody I was not. However, it did help me embrace my feminine side (click to read parts 1, 2, and 3 here). It also gave the impression that I have to impress others to gain approval and believe me, ain’t nobody got time for that! For the past year I’ve learned to simply say “fuck it.” After muttering the term, on goes a Mobb Deep tee, some back aviator shades while a pair of white Air Forces cover the feet. Any fashionistas feel this way? Where you just stop giving a crap and rock what you like? If so, please hit me with an AMEN in the comment box followed by your response as to how it made you feel.
