Happy Friday Everyone! Can’t recall the last time I did a moodboard so I thought I’d do a fun one today on particular designers that I’m feeling some type of way about. Every time the DHL delivery truck pulls up in front of my office, I envision that the delivery man will come to the door with a parcel with the words Vetements (pronounced: vet-mohn) across the top and inside will be the green logo hoodie and sweatpants that both cost as much as my first year of college tuition. I’m not lying when I say that a Vetements DHL t-shirt costs $430. Designer Denma Gvasalia (also the creative director at Balenciaga) is quickly revolutionizing fashion with simple cut pieces while keeping the energy spontaneous and youthful with pieces such as the green biker hoodie with the Vetements text similar to that of the infamous Champion brand. Celebrities such as Rihanna, Kanye West, Kylie Jenner to bloggers such as Aleali May and Jennifer Grace of Native Fox, have all incorporated their own fun twist into each piece. The goal for Vetements is to make “down to earth” look cool again in the most exhilarating and non conservative way possible. Don’t expect Gvasalia to slow down anytime soon for the collection was the most talked about during the Vetements Spring 2016 Ready To Wear Collection at Paris Fashion Week. I’ll try to keep the tears to a minimum the next time a DHL truck rolls on past.
