Lifestyles of #2K15

You don’t have to remind me again for it has been over two weeks since my last post. December is a time to catch up on relaxation, family time and goal-setting… along with well deserving naps. I can happily say that 2015 has been the best year for SYLXO. Aside from piercing my nose to dying my hair pitch black, these past 363 days have been quite a roller coaster but now time to prepare for the 2016 ride which will be here in exactly 2 days.  The goal for STYXO this year was to use the networking skills with hopes of landing a few collaborations with local brands plus pushing myself to reveal an idea that I’ve been wanting to do for quite some time (fi-na-lly). It’s so amazing to see ideas come to life for I was always afraid of the outcome and what people would think. But at the end of the day, only YOU can understand and make sense of your creativity. There have been so many opportunties presented this year and I want to thank every single person for opening the door and letting me add more style to the life. Your love and support have carried me through lengths with this blog and I owe it all to you. Not to mention the likes/comments/shares/, I mean really? What did I do to deserve this kind of love. I really hope this blog inspires you to style your life in the most creative way imaginable, we were put on this earth for a purpose so let’s make the most of these moments together! And don’t you guys worry, I got even more dope outfits coming along with a few inspirational posts so stay tuned!

With 2016 being right around corner, here are some of my favourite blog highlights of 2015. Enjoy 🙂 #StyleYourLifeIn2016

#WearTheChange Collaboration

In March of 2015, Fashion Daring’s Magy Lofoli and I landed our first blog collaboration with New Classics Studios founded by Edmonton blogger Alyssa Lau who is pretty much the coolest cat you’ll ever meet.  Instantly after I tapped the follow button on Lau’s Instagram page, I quickly came to discover that not only is she founder of the blog Ordinary People, but she also runs an online e-commerce store called New Classics Studios. The purpose of Lau’s line is to style women in garments that 1.) Are made to last, and 2.) Create an environmental impact in the fashion industry. I spotted Lau at a local fashion show and built up the courage to introduce myself. Yes, I was nervous ok! I’m about to walk up to a girl who has 50K followers on Instagram, her wardrobe is goals, plus she’s fricken cool as shit, who wouldn’t be intimidated? Magy and I ended up having quite the fabulous conversation with Lau until it quickly shifted to a proposition. I heard Lau say  “Let’s do a collab for Shop New Classics and feature you two in the blog.” That’s when my jaw dropped to the floor. Three months later, Magy and I found ourselves in Lau’s studio draped in New Classics garments, while munching on macarons in between takes. Peep Magy and I’s feature + interview on the New Classics blog and my post on why  sustainability is so important in the fashion industry. Thank you Alyssa for the opportunity! Way to get me hooked on Pinterest by the way. #StyleYourLifeWithNewClassicsStudios

Bomb Diggity

For those of you who actually tune in for Camille’s daily #ootd post, you may have seen a few posts featuring Shop Noul’s 4078 bomber jacket. Needless to say, this jacket hasn’t come off my back since I purchased it for it can be worn with practically anything. Not to mention it gives off such a street vibe! Urban Vision

I don’t think I’ve ever felt more inspired in my life during the fifth instalment of the Urban YEG photography movement. It’s where a group of young photographers meet via Instagram  all to tour the city with cameras in hand capturing beautiful shots of building structures, alleys, graffiti walls, and people. What blew my mind about this meet was seeing a group of young, passionate individuals come together not only to take photos but for them to share stories about how they got into photography and why they love it so much. In other words, it was lit! It was so lit that it got to the point where the founder, Chan Rin, put me center stage, smoke bomb in hand while photographers gathered around to capture the moment. Check out the post from the meet for visual evidence! To every person at that meet, thank you for showing me what my camera can do outside the manual and most importantly, thank you for visually showing me what it means to be passionate and to never underestimate the power of creativity. #StyleYourLifeWithUrbanYEG

Sole And The City

Before I began STYXO, I would always complain about there not being enough culture in our city in terms of events and the local fashion scene. It wasn’t until I started STYXO that I found myself sitting front row at fashion shows and getting invites to local events. As a youngin, sneakers and streetwear became a part of my everyday lifestyle.  From staying up late flipping through Air Jordan and Complex magazines to watching sneaker reviews on Youtube, my dad would  poke fun at me for waking up at 5 am to cop the new Jordan’s. While casually going on an Instagram liking spree, I came across a local sneaker page called “Sole Good.” Its a sneaker convention that allows local sneakerheads to buy, sell or trade their sneakers. How have I not heard of this before?! Got to talk sneakers and Supreme with a few vendors and it really opened my eyes knowing that sneaker culture does exist in Edmonton. Big shoutout goes to Jim Duggin for creating an atmosphere where sneaker lovers can put their best foot forward and help our city grow in the aspect of streetwear culture. He was also kind enough to let me cover YEGShow this past November. Thank you for the opportunity Jim and I can’t wait to build with you in 2016. #StyleYourLifeWithSole

2015 also marked the premiere of a new blog series called the Fashionable Friend Feature. It’s where I feature and interview friends of mine who I believe have great style and inspire the living daylights out of me. First up was Romhel Camilo who styles his life in oversized sweaters, Nike Huarches, and a Phillip Lim clutch. Second up was my homegirl Maegan who had quite the philosophy when it came to styling her life for we discussed the meaning of the term “vibes” while we got lost in a visual frenzy at the Art Gallery (In a good way guys). Just hearing how these two individuals style their lives inspired me to want to get out there and interview even more people. I’ve met some of the most humble, most driven people in this city and it’s about time they deserve the limelight when it comes to styling their lives. Be on the lookout for more features in 2016!  #StyleYourFriendships

Raising Arizona

Ain’t nothing wrong with a change in scenery. This August marked a trip to Arizona where my hair got quite accustomed to the heat (in a good way) and it allowed me to just chill the eff out. Aside from snapping a few outfit posts here and there, I really got to experience Arizona aside from the scorching heat waves.  From sitting on a cliff overlooking the Grand Canyon to watching my first Diamondbacks game on home soil, the term blessed has officially become an understatement. Thank you for supplying the warm vibes AZ and I know we will meet again soon! #StyleYourLifeInArizona
