This past weekend I attended the last day of Western Canada Fashion Week where costume designer, Salvador Perez, made an appearance and answered a variety of questions from the audience about how he got into the world of costuming. If you’re unfamiliar with the name, he is currently involved in Mindy Kaling’s hit show The Mindy Project and also worked on films such as Think Like A Man 1 & 2, Soul Food and The Bling Ring. We had the chance to talk outside the venue where we touched base on how we should never be afraid to play with colours and how black attire has become so bland. He even complimented Camille on her blood orange blazer that evening. I joked with him saying that if I ever went missing, it wouldn’t be hard to find me due to the bright color scheme of the jacket. Since I love mixing everyday garments with high end/streetwear brands, I paired the fierce-colored blazer with a Margiela tunic with the Shiro print and tucked it in on the side into a pair of old ripped jeans. The shoe game was kept neutral, thanks to a pair of nude pumps with the gold-pleated toe. Click here read more about Salvador Perez and his contributions to costume design. Thank you Salvador Perez for supplying the conversations and vibes that night and if I do go missing, I’ll make sure to wear something that screams “Missing, but still chic.” Thank you for a great night!
