Who’s world is this? Those are the exact words that I woke up at 7:00 in the morning, all thanks to track number four off one of my favourite hip-hop albums. Illmatic aka the lyrically, gritty masterpiece created by a nineteen year-old kid hailing from Queensbridge: Nasty Nas. As I rapped along to “The World Is Yours,” I suddenly felt the urge to bust out the wheat coloured Timbs and get my style on. As a child, hip-hop was always around for my mom would blast The Fugees whenever she cleaned the house. Plus my Uncle was big on 90’s rap so he kept a good ear to artists like Rakim, Mos Def and The Roots. I get it from someone. For anyone who know me, knows that hip-hop is one of my favourite genres. But not the hip-hop that you hear today, hip-hop with that generic sound with the lyrical skill to match. Since the Timbs on my feet kept my cypher still complete, I added a long knit sweater with a grey tee underneath for that extra layering. Accessories were kept girly thanks to Kate Spade Marc Jacobs, and BCBG. The red cape with the plaid print can also be worn as a scarf but in this case, I wanted the outfit to naturally flow. Ya feel me?
