Miss. Androgynous

I don’t know what it is lately but I have been really into the whole androgynous feel of fashion. With the help of female fashionistas like Grace Jones, Omahyra Mota (she was in those Rocawear ads) and Janelle Monae, I finally gained the confidence to reveal my take on the masculine trend. A few days ago, I got together with my fellow fashionista friend Zac (check out his Instagram here) and we went on an adventure beginning on Whyte Ave until we ended up at the bottom of the high level bridge. Apparently there’s a really cool trail you can follow under the bridge that overlooks the city.  Zac had his Nikon camera hanging on his right shoulder and, well, you know what that means? OOTD Shoot! After a few test shots, a few lipstick applications, and a wet booty from sitting in leaves, Zac and I managed to capture some androgynous shots. If you like taking fashion risks, let me take this opportunity to advise you on the three clothing garments that will help boost your androgynous confidence:

1.) Boyfriend Jeans 2.) Oxfords 3.) Black Velvet Blazer.

Each garment is a masculine feature on its own. The boyfriend jeans add a distressed look due to the baggyness. A tip that I use with my distressed denim is to roll up the ankles if the jeans are too long. It helps create more height when paired with heels or flat shoes. Oxfords were originally suited for men but became accessible to females during the 1920’s. Regardless of your style choices, oxfords create an elegant look with the help of contrasting designs. Please excuse the cuts on my ankles for these bad boys do leave marks from the studs. This beautiful blazer by Alexander Wang boosted my confidence meter not because of the iconic brand name, but of the velvet material. You almost feel like a queen walking through the corridors of whichever historic castle (MacLean Castle in Scotland?) Check out my androgynous look below and feel free to comment below.

Enjoy!

  2. Really like the look. It’s a bit of challenge to go “masculine” but love how you did it.

  3. Thanks girl! You’re so right, it is hard to go a little bit “masculine” you just got to have the confidence. Nothing wrong with stepping outside the box!
