The Long Vest

A trend that I have been really ogling over lately involves a vest, a rather long vest!  The menswear inspired trend has finally hit the fashion heatwaves and is hotter than ever! It may look like a vest, but just add more length and a tailored cut. Just think of it as a blazer without the sleeves (that’s better). Celebrities like Rachel Zoe, Victoria Beckham, and blogger Leandra Medine have all been spotted rocking the long look. This trend comes in a variety of styles and can be worn during the summer and autumn season. Designers such as OAK, Alexander Wang, and Nasty Gal have already but their creativity to use when it comes to such a style. The great feature about these long vests is that they amplify any look from simple to sophisticated whether with a long white tee and leather leggings or a skirt. Some long vests come with the option of being buttoned up or buttoned down. I prefer the unbuttoned look for it creates a balance between the upper and lower body. Plus, you want to show what you are wearing underneath the garment (hopefully not your birthday suit). Since my birthday is, well… tomorrow, I’m thinking about an upgrade.

What are your thoughts on the long vest trend?
